Tuskegee airman, fighter pilot, civil rights pioneer to visit UNDShelby Westbrook, a member of the Tuskegee Airmen, will be at UND for a series of events Thursday and Friday, Nov. 16-17. A lecture and open forum, "The Tuskegee Airmen: Fighter Pilots and Civil Rights Pioneers," will kick off events at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in the Memorial Union Ballroom. Friday's events will begin with a roundtable discussion, "The Air War Over Europe: One Fighter Pilot's Perspective," at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Union Lecture Bowl, followed by a reception and showing of Westbrook's film, "The Tuskegee Airmen" at the Era Bell Thompson Multicultural Center. All events are free of charge and open to the public. The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of African American pilots who flew with distinction during World War II.
